The newly opened and carefully made treks of the Annapurna region which features the snowcapped mountains is the Khopra Danda trek. Lasting only for a week to nine days, short yet challenging, this trek shows you the beautiful view of the Annapurna Mountain, Dhaulagiri range and Mt Macchapucchre. This trekking trail has become the best alternative for the Ghorepani Poonhill trek.
This trail follows the same path as Poonhill trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani but splits off to the north towards Khopra Ridge serving as one of the best short trekking trails of Nepal.
Trek to Khopra danda is an alternative to the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek. Due to it being short, it is suitable for families and children to trek through the trails.
Basically, September to November (3 months) in autumn and March to May (3 months) in spring are considered as the best trekking seasons for Khopra danda because the sky is clearer during these time of the year. These months are also ideal for a visit to Kayer Lake along with Khopra Danda.
Accommodation
Upon arrival, you’ll be checked in to a 3-star hotel for the time being. Later, after travel via bus or plane to Pokhara, you’ll be checked in to another hotel until you start trekking from Ghandruk to Khopra Danda. During the trek, you’ll be provided with accommodation and other basic facilities at a lodge, guest house or tea house; if you choose to trek to Kayer Lake then you’ll be provided with tents. The ideal option would be to camp there due to lack of lodging facilities around the area.
