Mount Kanchenjunga Trek, is a trek inside the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, located in the eastern region of Nepal. This trek encounters the dramatic mountain vistas alongside lush rhododendron forest, peoples in folklore, amazing culture of  Rai, Limbu, Sherpa, Gurung, and varieties of flora and fauna. Moreover, hike to the world’s third-highest Mt. Kanchenjunga Base Camp means setting a footprint in the region after Everest and K2.

 

The unprecedented combination of natural and cultural beauties makes Kanchenjunga Conservation Area is a paradise for trekking. The off beaten path located in the far-eastern part of Nepal, on the border of Sikkim, India. This giant Mt Kanchenjunga is split into two sections, Mt Kanchenjunga North Face, and South Face.

 

Kanchenjunga area is the homeland of Rai, Limbu, Sherpa, and Gurung community, who speaks their own language. Also, these communities follow a mixture of Buddhist, Hindu, and animist beliefs. Footsteps on the Kanchenjunga is open for foreign travelers from 1998 with restriction of the permit. Furthermore, only the Nepal Government’s authorized trekking companies can issue the permit.

 

MOUNT KANCHENJUNGA TREKKING ROUTE

Mount Kanchenjunga Trek, starts a drive from Kathmandu to Taplejung; and ends a flight from Sukatar to Nepalgunj and Nepalgunj to Kathmandu. Another easy option is both way flight to Kathmandu – Nepaljung – Suketar – Nepaljung – Kathmandu. And also possible to finish this trek a drive from Taplejung to Kathmandu. This trek has been listed in the Great Himalaya Trail Trek as well for the high Himalaya trekking trail.

 

The Kanchenjunga Trekking region is the first trekking region of Nepal, managed by local communities, and has been GOING very successful. But still, this area is fully effective in remote facilities.

Best Season to do Mount Kanchenjunga Trek.

  • Spring:  March, April, and May.
  • Autumn:  September, October, and November:- In these two seasons, excellent weather conditions and amazing vistas of mountains, landscapes, and diversity of flora and fauna. The government of Nepal only allows trekkers during these seasons to do the Kanchenjunga trek.
