Khopra Danda Trek – Less Touristic Trekking Trail
The Best Alternative Destination of Poon Hill – Khopra Danda Trek
Khopra Danda Trek is the best short trek in the Annapurna Himalayas. This trek is also popular as Khopra Ridge Trek. This trekking trail allows you to explore the off-beaten path. It is a great replacement for Poon Hill Trek (3210m) because it offers a similar kind of view to Poon Hill. Also, the Khopra Danda Trek itinerary can combine with Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp Trek as well.
Trekking inside the Annapurna Conservation Area always offers majestic mountain views and superb sunrise and sunset view. Khopra Ridge Trek is one of the treks inside the ACAP that offers the best mountain view and real trekking experience. That is why this trek has terraced farmland, typical local villages, sparkling mountain views, lush rhododendron forest, and the best sunrise and sunset view. Wildlife and nature are other attractions of this amazing trek.
Khopra Danda Trek route is not that old like Annapurna Base Camp, Poon Hill, and Annapurna Circuit inside the Annapurna Conservation Area. This trekking area is newly found trekking trails like Mardi Himal and Mohare Danda Trek. The best combination of this trek can be the Mohare Danda Community Trek and Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. Due to the newly discovered trekking trail; the accommodation during this trek is not as good as other trekking trails. That is why this trekking area is still a virgin trek in Nepal.

- ACAP Permit: Permit to the Annapurna Conservation Area.
- TIMS Card: Trekking Information Management System Card.
BEST TIME TO DO THIS TREK
- Spring: March, April, and May.
- Autumn: September, October, and November.
Basically, these two seasons are the best trekking season in Nepal. Because during these seasons the weather condition will be perfect for a hike. And the temperature will be very nice during these seasons. So we recommend that travelers visit Nepal during these seasons to get the best trekking experience in Nepal.
People can do this trek during the winter and summer as well. But during these seasons the weather will be different. During the summer season, there will be rain and not good views of the surroundings. However, the greenery will be the best attraction during the summer season. And the leech (blood sucker) can be the biggest challenge alongside heavy rain and landslides issues.
On the other hand, during the winter season, the weather will be very cold, and snow everywhere. However, the scenery of the surrounding will be very clear and nice. The challenging things to trek during winter are snow and icy trails. Icy trails can be the life taking in the high Himalayas.

We advise getting travel insurance to all travelers who are interested in trekking in Nepal. Trekking in Nepal is walking on the trail (path) of mountains. In mountain areas, health treatment facilities are not standard. There is less availability of good hospitals and doctors. So if in case the trekker suffers from severe sickness, he needs to be brought back to Kathmandu by helicopter for better treatment. And the helicopter charter fare is expensive in Nepal. If you already have travel insurance, your expenditure during these times will lessen.
When selecting a travel insurance policy we require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. We JRN Treks shall have no liability for loss, theft of or damage to baggage or personal effects.
We would also like to let you know that Nepalese Insurance Company does not have travel insurance policy for foreign nationals. They have this policy only for Nepalese citizens. So we advise you to get your travel insurance with Insurance Company in your own place.
