Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is a  adventures short trip to the Annapurna Himalaya Range. One of the newly opened and less touristic trekking trail nearby beautiful Pokhara valley. Due to getting popularity nowadays many adventure seeker go there.  This trek goes through Oak and Rhododendron forest till rugged hard rock formation. The dramatic panoramic view of the Mardi Himal, Fishtail, Mount Annapurna range, Himchuli, and other mountain peaks. The diversity of flora and fauna and the basic Tea House run by the local community will welcome you warmly to the lap of the world’s gorgeous mountain peak Machhapuchhre.

But the tea house style is more popular, easy and cheaper as well. Basically, this trekking starts from a drive or flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then a short drive from Pokhara to Phedi or Kande, Kande is the more popular stsrting point to start this beautiful trek.

 

Best time to do Mardi Himal Base Camp.

Spring – March, April, and mid of May is the best time.

Autumn – Mid September to Mid of December is the best time.

Because these seasons are not very cold and not very hot; that’s why Spring and Autumn are the perfect weather condition for this trek, and even winter (December to January) is also the good time for this trek, but you need to be prepared for cold and probably snow as well.

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu.

Day 2: Drive to Pokhara.

Day 3: Drive to Phedi and trek to Pothana.

Day 4: Trek to Forest Camp at Kokar.

Day 5: Trek to Low Camp.

Day 6: Trek to High Camp.

Day 7: Day walk to the Upper viewpoint.

Day 8: Trek to Siding village.

Day 9: Trek to Lumre and drive to Pokhara.

Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Day 11: Farewell.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu

Our airport team will welcome you during arrival and arrange transportation to the Hotel. Meet with guide and porter and briefing about the trek.

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara (910m)

Driving duration: 7 to 8 hours.

The guide will pick you up from your hotel at 6:30 am to the tourist bus station for the drive to Pokhara. Overnight at Hotel and Breakfast included.

Day 03: Drive to Phedi and trek to Pothana (1,925m)

Walking duration: 4 to 5 hours.

After breakfast, you will drive for half an hour to Phedi. From Phedi, you will ascend to Dhampus. Dhampus is a quite big village and popular short hike destinations from Pokhara. Continuing to Pothana from Dhampus is gradual up with the nice view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna range, and Machhapuchhre. Overnight at lodge/guesthouse. Full board meal – Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

Day 04: Trek to Forest Camp at Kokar (2,600m)

Walking duration: 4 to 5 hours.

The first part you will walk to the place called Pritam Deurali. Pritam Deurali is the last village, from where you will turn off the main Annapurna Sanctuary Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek. You will walk along a quiet trail through a dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock, and rhododendrons to get in Forest Camp. Lodge at the camp forest is not like other places so that service is just basic. Overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse. Full board meal – Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

Day 05: Trek to Low Camp (3,150m)

Walking duration: 5 to 6 hours.

Forest camp to Low Camp again needs to walk ascend through to the jungle. the vegetation starts to change with more rhododendrons and trees covered with moss, lichen and tree ferns. The Low Camp also just a basic place but the view from there is absolutely breath-taking.  Overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse. Full board meal – Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

Day 06: Trek to High Camp (3,600m)

Walking duration: 4 to 5 hours.

From Low Camp around one and a half hour, you will get the treeless barrier land. The trail continues along the Mardi Himal ridge mainly on the grass with some isolated rhododendron bushes along the way to reach High Camp.  Lodge at High camp is better than Low Camp with the superb view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). Overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse. Full board meal – Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

Day 07: Day walk to Upper viewpoint (4,200m)

Walking duration: 4 to 5 hours.

Today you are going to hike at the Base Camp of Mardi Himal or Upper viewpoint. The view from the upper viewpoint is beyond the imagination. The upper viewpoint is the highest point of this trek. Spending some time at the top you will follow the same way to get in High Camp. Overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse. Full board meal – Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

Day 08: Trek to Siding village (1,750m)

Walking Duration: 6 to 7 hours.

Back from trek is different trail thus completing a circuit and from the Low Camp, there is a trail that goes down to Siding village rather than going back down Kokar. Siding is a traditional village so really good to spend a night with local peoples. Overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse. Full board meal – Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

Day 09: Trek to Lumre and drive to Pokhara (910m)

Walking duration: 3 to 4 hours.

Driving duration: 2 hours.

From Siding, you will descend to the Lumre. On the way to Lumre, you will pass the Kalimati and Ghalel villages. After getting in Lumre you will drive back to Pokhara. Overnight at Hotel, Breakfast and Lunch included.

Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu

Drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara at the deluxe tourist bus.

Day 11: Farewell

Receive your trekking achievement certificate and T-shirt the departure to the airport.

We advise travel insurance to all travelers are interested in trekking in Nepal. Trekking in Nepal is walking on the trail (path) of mountains. In mountain areas, health treatment facilities are not standard. There are less available of good hospitals and doctors. So if in case the trekker suffers from severe sickness, he should bring to Kathmandu by helicopter for better treatment. And the helicopter charter fare is expensive in Nepal. If you have already travel insurance, your money will be saved.

When selecting a travel insurance policy we require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. We JRN Treks shall have no liability for loss, theft of or damage to baggage or personal effects.

We also let you know that Nepalese Insurance Company does not have travel insurance policy for foreign nationals. They have this policy only for Nepalese citizens. So we advise you do your travel insurance with Insurance Company in your own place.
